President and Managing Director of our New Jersey offices, Eugene Cordano has a rich background in real estate and new development. In this Spotlight interview, Eugene reflects on the culture of BHS, discusses the Hoboken and Jersey City real estate markets, and provides his recommendation for the best Italian food in Hoboken.
The CULTURE! It is why agents or any employees stay with a company, and we have a conducive culture for entrepreneurial agents. We work hard and have a lot of fun doing it!
It is quite an interesting time. Rising interest rates should pose an obstacle to raising prices, but it does not look like interest rates will dampen demand for this year. I think that prices will continue to rise as demand has not ebbed and the supply of homes—condo or single family—is not keeping up with that demand.
My favorite restaurant in New Jersey is Augustino’s in Hoboken. Having grown up in Brooklyn, I know great Italian food, and when I came to Hoboken, I was immediately drawn to Augustino‘s. It is local, authentic and has a welcoming atmosphere.
I love to make deals and my role is to help—“direct,” if you will—my teams utilize their skills to make the best deals for their clientele. There is nothing more gratifying than finding a home for someone, and I am honored to play a part in doing that every day!
I wasn’t always bald… I used to have a ponytail!
I was consulting for national developers in Jersey City and Hoboken back in 2005, which led me to opening up new development sales in NJ. This became the catalyst for us to open our offices here. That was not only a big change for me as a NY broker but a risk for the company. However, it wound up being a terrific investment for both of us.
Do not focus on how much you can make on any one deal. Instead, focus on the clients and the money will come again and again from referrals.
This is Pinnacle Peak in Scottsdale AZ—one of my favorite places. Its natural beauty is both a gift from God and a challenge at the same time. I see it as a metaphor for life as it doesn’t look that tough to climb, but when you factor in the elevation, trail length, and the desert heat, you will find yourself in big trouble if you are unprepared.
