We are avid volleyball players, both indoor and beach doubles, and travel to Mexico three times a year to play in tournaments. Beach volleyball is a bit more forgiving than hard court and we hope to play as long as our knees cooperate!
Let everyone in your sphere of influence know what you do. It would be a shame to have a college friend say, “You’re in real estate? Too bad I didn’t know! My parents just bought a $10,000,000 apartment.”
It is also important to absorb as much information as possible since you are competing with brokers who have years of knowledge and experience and you need to catch up to them! Attend every webinar you can so you can hear from the pros, volunteer to help other brokers with showings, and once things open up, go to as many open house tours as you can.
Right now, we’d say Central Park. During the lockdown, it was our savior and we felt like we rediscovered what is literally at our doorstep. We’d leave our apartment every 3-4 days for epic walks and discover new areas of the park, especially the north end which is incredibly peaceful (and has lots of turtles and giant koi fish—who knew?). We also finally got Citi Bike memberships to help us stay in shape and would do loops around the park. It became our favorite social distancing activity.
We have always preferred quieter, more private settings so we adore the new outdoor options, especially those with completely private cabanas. King in the West Village has great separation between tables (as well as divine food!) and Peasant on Elizabeth has a GREAT setup since the street is closed to cars. It feels very European.
Michael cooks and I eat. We also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to travel, especially to the Caribbean. Our next European trip will hopefully be to Portugal to visit our friends—a COVID-postponed trip that we are eager to rebook.

Pandemic roof dining in Summer 2020. Since we couldn’t leave our apartment, we made the roof our private restaurant. We get creative when necessary!
